Job summary

We are looking for Clinical Practitioners to join our team at Leeds Walk-in Centre (Burmantofts, LS9) and/or LGI (Leeds General Infirmary). You will get to work within a forward-thinking Urgent Care Service, as part of a fantastic team with a wide range of great benefits.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Practitioner will utilise expert clinical knowledge to provide the full range of clinical duties based on patient needs and centre service offerings with a specific focus on minor illness and injuries.

In addition to clinical duties, the Clinical Practitioner is accountable, in conjunction with the Clinical Service Manager, for the clinical governance of and clinical management of patients presenting with an urgent care need, ensuring the service is safe and effective.

Job responsibilities

The post-holderwill reportto the Clinical Service Manager for professional leadership, and operationally to the Operations Manager, particularly in relation to the authorisation of any operational requests.The full-time equivalent for us is 40 hours per week. Full-time and part-time can be considered, depending on availabilities.

What youll work on

  • Undertake face-to-face consultations with patients, and refer elsewhere when applicable
  • Provide the full range of clinical duties based on patient needs and centre service offerings with a specific focus on minor illness and injuries
  • Provide patient focussed, evidence-based practice to a high standard
  • Supporting the wider MDT to ensure patients are seen by the right person
  • Escalate any clinical issues to the person in charge
  • Support the implementation of the Clinical Strategy for OneMedicare
  • Support and contribute to a robust clinical governance programme

Our Walk-in Centre, located within the Inner Leeds area, has a diverse patient population who present with a variety of medical and social needs.The Walk-in Centreis open 7 days a week, 8am to 8pmincluding bank holidays. It is located onCromwell Mount, Leeds,LS9 7TA.

Leeds General Infirmary, also known as the LGI, is a large teaching hospital based in the centre of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, and is part of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. You can find it onGreat George St, Leeds LS1 3EX.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Substantial experience (minimum 1 year), post registration, in an acute/urgent care setting face to face.
  • Experience treating minor injury & illness in an acute/urgent care setting
  • Confidence and ability to accurately assess and manage complex patient presentations to a high professional standard
  • Autonomous practice experience supported with a level 6/7 Minor Illness or Injury qualification
  • Up to date clinical practice
  • Experience of prioritising needs and informed decision making in care and delivery

Qualifications

Essential

  • An individual registered with relevant professional body (NMC, HCPC, GPhC)
  • Degree-level registration qualification or equivalent post-registration modules
  • Level 6/7 Minor Illness or Injury qualification
  • Life Support qualifications (or alternative profession specific clinically determined qualifications)

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge relating to current urgent care organisational policy and national legislation
  • Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills across all levels of the business
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Right to work in the UK - required
