Due to the continued expansion of Hobbs services, a new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist to join our existing interdisciplinary therapy teams at Hobbs Rehabilitation, the largest independent provider of specialist neurological rehabilitation to adults in the south of England.We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate therapist with excellent clinical skills and experience in neurological rehabilitation across the clinical pathway, including specialist assessment, treatment planning and complex discharge planning.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will join established interdisciplinary teams working in an outpatient setting to provide high-quality, intensive rehabilitation for clients with brain and spinal cord injuries, working alongside experts in their field. There will be extensive opportunities for career and professional development, supporting you to further develop specialist clinical skills, as well as involvement in research, service development and working with advanced neurotechnology.

Hobbs services are expanding and developing - you will be integral to the continued growth of these, helping to ensure that expert-level rehabilitation is available to all our clients.

The Role:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assessing patients with acquired physical and cognitive impairments using a range of formal and informal assessments.
  • Practice safely within the legal and ethical boundaries of the profession.
  • Formulate patient-centred goals in conjunction with MDT.
  • Create and provide one-to-one intervention to patients with acquired physical and cognitive impairments, using a comprehensive knowledge of evidence-informed practice and treatment options.
  • Evaluate patients progress using published outcome measures
  • Liaising regularly with the Hobbs MDT and wider care team.
  • Organise and plan your own caseload at our Winchester outpatient clinic in conjunction with the service lead and other clinical team members to meet the patients and service needs, readjusting plans as situations change or arise.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate clinical notes using site-specific software and local procedures.
  • Write high-quality patient reports, including MDT discharge reports for inpatients.
  • Attend and contribute to patient and family meetings, both face-to-face and via video.

Skills & Experience

  • Recognised Physiotherapy degree qualification or equivalent.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Member of the chartered Society of Physiotherapists
  • Knowledge and understanding of specialist Physiotherapy assessment and treatment approaches relating to acquired neurological conditions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience of working as an integrated member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Neurological rehabilitation experience across the clinical pathway.
  • Commitment to developing self and others through training, supervision and mentoring.
  • Innovative and creative thinking with vision to improve and develop services for the future.
  • Confidence engaging with local community services including facilitating patients within the community.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to the changing needs of the service.

The successful candidate must have a full clean driving licence and be prepared to travel to training and community visits.

  • Experience of working at a post-graduate level with an adult neuro caseload

  • Experience of supervising other staff members
  • Experience of teaching and training other physiotherapy and MDT staff

Desirable

  • Experience of specialist treatment areas such as splinting, complex postural management, vestibular and post-concussion, Bobath principles etc.
  • Experience of engaging in research, education and service development

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal clinical communication skills
  • Good clinical IT skills
  • Full clean driving licence and ability to travel independently
