Compass Bloom are an innovative Mental Health Support Team, supporting 64 schools across Central and West Lancashire. We are now recruiting for the post of Trainee Supervising Practitioner, who will join us and help deliver evidence-based, high-quality and responsive services. To help us meet the mental health and emotional wellbeing needs of children, young people and families in our partner education settings and local communities in Central & West Lancashire.

This role is a real opportunity to help shape the services we provide with children, young people, families and educational settings and to develop your career in mental health support to children, young people and families.

Main duties of the job

You will have at least 1 years post qualification experience working therapeutically within a CYP mental health setting. In the role of Trainee Supervising Practitioner, you would be delivering training, evidenced based interventions and consultation to children, young people, families and educational staff.

You will also be supported by the service to learn and develop new skills in delivering CBT informed supervision. Once you have reached the required minimum competencies defined by HEE you will be required to undertake a PG Certificate in Clinical Supervision. On acceptance on to the training programme the post holder will progress to Band F which currently attracts a salary range of £37,092 - £45,347 pa.

You must possess a full driving licence and have access to your own transport.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Core professional qualification relevant to mental health e.g. nursing with specialism in mental health or learning disability nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, CWP, EMHP and must be committed to upholding registration if applicable
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Willingness to complete post Graduate Certificate in Supervision

Desirable

  • Therapeutic post graduate qualification (preferably in CBT)
  • Post Graduate qualification in a relevant discipline

Experience

Essential

  • One year post-qualification experience of working therapeutically with children and young people e.g., as an EMHP/ CYP-IAPT practitioner
  • Experience of working in a community and/or educational environment
  • Evidence of clinical development
  • Collaborative working
  • Experience of effective engagement with families and carers
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team

Desirable

  • Experience of leadership within Children and Young People clinical service areas
  • Experience of providing mentorship
  • Experience of delivering CBT informed supervision, ideally of practice related to education settings

Additional Criteria

Essential

  • Recognition and escalation of risk, contributing to control measures
  • Planning workload, time management
  • Work under pressure and able to manage changing priorities
  • Understand need for evidence and statistical data collection, and achieving targets
  • Excellent communication skills and able to relate to children and young people
  • Access to own transport or evidence of ability to commute efficiently between community venues.
  • Ongoing commitment to maintain registration in core profession
