We are interested to hear from you if you are an aspiring senior Band 5 looking to specialise in MSK physiotherapy or an MSK experienced Band 6 physiotherapist looking for career progression. Preferably 2 years' MSK experience is desirable. However, less is considered on evidence of skills and capabilities in application.

We will consider flexible working, part time hours and return to practice applications.

Main duties of the job

The opportunity to assess and rehabilitate both acute and chronic patients from both primary and secondary care, developing excellent clinical reasoning skills in MSK physio and rehabilitation.
Become involved in the process of self referral triage, and single point of access/referral triage.
Support, supervise and help educate more junior staff, physio students and exercise therapist.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To assess and treat patients with a wide range of conditions, who may have complex and/or chronic presentation, to determine clinical diagnosis and plan, develop, implement and evaluate physiotherapy programmes and management plans.

To provide Physiotherapy Assessment and treatment in Clinics, Health Centres, GP surgeries and community hospitals, including First Point of Contact services as appropriate.

To work and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner

To provide specialist Therapeutic input into planning, development and evaluation of clinical services, with responsibility for defined projects.

To provide clinical and supervisory leadership to junior staff and students within the team, including case load allocation, appraisal and managerial supervision.

To coach and develop all members of the team using recognised management and training tools and techniques, including the AHP Learning Knowledge and Skills Framework and Personal Development Reviews, to achieve corporate and team objectives.

Person Specification

Personal & People Development

Essential

Health Professions Council registration.
Ability to supervise and instruct junior staff and students.
Documented evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
Standard computer skills including use of Microsoft and e-mail.
Effective leadership skills.

Desirable

Membership of an appropriate professional body.
Current professional student practice placement educator training and associated skills.

Experience

Essential

Specialist physiotherapy knowledge of musculoskeletal, neurology, orthopaedics and elderly care specialities with skills in linked modalities.

Desirable

24 months' post graduate MSK experience as a physiotherapist demonstrating a high level of clinical experience.
