Paediatric Clinical fellowship - July 2024 - December 2024

We are really excited to announce Junior clinical fellow (ST1-3 equivalent) post in paediatrics

The successful candidate will Have the following subspecialty choices

  • General Paediatrics with ID
  • Paediatric Allergy with General Paediatrics
  • Paediatric Surgery with General Paediatrics

This fellow jobs has come up to cover for training post vacancies

The posts will be for a period of 6 months with further extension depending upon the clinical performance

Who is the Junior fellowship suitable for?

1) Paediatric Trainee's who want to further sub-specialty experience

2) Foundation trainee's-FY3 equivalent who are keen to pursue career in Paediatrics

3) Trainee's who are out of programme and keen to further their paediatric sub-speciality experience before applying for the sub-speciality GRID

4) Overseas paediatric trainees

Main duties of the job

  • Royal London is one of the busiest paediatric unit in the UK . We already have GRID trainee's for Paediatric A&E/ Paediatric gastroenterology/ Paediatric Respiratory medicine/ Paediatric Allergy medicine/ Paediatric endocrinology with SPIN trainee's in paediatric Neurology
  • Vast amount of paediatric research and academic activity is done here with the teams actively participating in lots of clinical trial. Fellows will be encouraged to participate in the ongoing trials as a part of the post
  • We have a robust teaching programme (please see the detailed programme at the end of the advert) and will encourage all paediatric fellows to actively participate in the teaching sessions and also to deliver teaching
  • All undergraduates from QMUL (Queen Mary's university London) are attached to Royal London hospital and there will be ample opportunities to mentor and teach them
  • All fellows will be assigned a QI project/Audit to participate in along with participation in Clinical Governance and management meetings

Work pattern would involve working with the paediatric subspeciality during the daytime. Oncalls would involves covering general and speciality paediatrics. Oncalls would include doing a combination of long days and night shifts. All shifts are EWTD and New deal contract compliant.

Professional qualifications

Essential

  • Basic medical qualifications - MBBS, MBChB, BMBS

Desirable

  • Previous training in Paediatrics or Foundation Year 2 Level
  • Paediatric Advance Life Support course
  • Newborn Life Support course

Experience & Responsibility

Essential

  • 6-12 months previous experience or Equivalent
  • Interest in Paediatrics

Desirable

  • NHS Experience

Skills and Knowledge-Leadership/Organisational skills

Essential

  • Able to contribute to teaching and learning of others in the clinical Setting
  • Good interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Decision making. Able to manage time and prioritise workload
  • Attention to detail.
  • Team player

Desirable

  • Practical competence in Paediatrics or Equivalent
  • Knowledge of current issues in the NHS

COMMUNICATION - RELATIONSHIPS AND WORK COLLEAGUES

Essential

  • Communication - written and spoken English
  • Able to establish good working relations with patients, carers and multi-disciplinary colleagues
  • Computer literate

Desirable

  • Understands the responsibilities of being an employee of the NHS

GMC Registration

Essential

  • Full GMC Registration with a License to practice.
