Job summary

The Junior Clinical Fellow post can be for a period of 6 or 12 months. The post holder will hold full GMC registration and have MRCS or equivalent experience consisting of previous experience in orthopaedics and trauma at SHO level preferably, but not essential at middle grade level

Main duties of the job

The department is staffed by 12 Consultants, 9 Middle Grades, 7 SHO level doctors and 4 FY1 doctors. There are 29 acute beds shared between 12 consultants and 15 elective beds in a separate purpose built facility. We also have dedicated Ortho/Physician consultants and an Associate Specialist who support the elderly trauma patients.

Job responsibilities

In addition to great clinical experience, we expect our fellows to take a lead in research and present 2 research projects per 12 months with at least one being published. Fellows will be involved in both elective and trauma clinics and theatres, including non-resident 1:7 on-call rota. Each fellows role will reflect their seniority and they will be expected to show excellent leadership & management skills.
