Job summary
Applications are invited for a Junior Clinical Fellow in Intensive Care for three months from August 2024.
The post is based at Homerton University Hospital in Hackney.
This post is suitable for any doctor at FY3 level or more senior. Prior experience in intensive care is not required although would be helpful.
Main duties of the job
Main responsibilities:
- To provide a clinical service on the ICU
- To participate in a 1:7 on call rota (this may vary according to staff allocation)
- To participate in clinical governance
- To ensure continued development of skills and learning

On this single site, we have staff working across a broad range of specialties and impressive Facilities including a regional Neuro Rehabilitation Centre.The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has 12 physical beds which flexibly provide level 3 and 2 support. The intensive care team provide input into all other areas of the hospital and relationships with referring teams are excellent. We are supported by a dynamic and expanding critical care outreach service. It is an innovative unit, with a strong sense of team working and a high regard for constant quality improvement wherever possible.The ICU has been inspected and approved for training in Intensive Care Medicine by the Intercollegiate Board for Training in Intensive Care Medicine at intermediate level.The Homerton University Hospital is one campus for St Bartholomew's and Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry at Queen Mary's and Westfield College, University of London. Medical students attend the hospital in their clinical years for teaching in peri-operative medicine and resuscitation, anaesthesia and intensive care.

Qualifications
Essential
- MBBS or equivalent
- Full registration with a licence to practice from the General Medical Council, or eligible for same
Desirable
- FRCA, MRCP, FCEM or equivalent
- Member of a learned society pertinent to intensive care e.g. ICS, ESICM
- APLS, ATLS, ALS
Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
- Equivalent to FY3+ level at time of application
- Evidence of involvement in Clinical Governance including clinical audit.
Desirable
- Team building skills,
- Advanced life support course instructor (ALS/ATLS/APLS)
