Job summary

This position will be part of the finance team reporting to the Senior Business Partner at Velindre Cancer Centre. The post holder will support in providing a comprehensive, high quality and in depth financial management service. The post holder will provide vital financial management support across a range of budgets for which the trust is responsible for. The key elements of this post will include the productions of an accurate monthly budget holder report, annual outturn forecast, ad hoc costing work and supporting and advising budget holders on all financial matters including investigating financial enquiries. The post will be key to integrating the IMTP within financial targets and budgets.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Responsibility for all complex budget adjustments to the Finance ledger in line with the Financial Plan and providing the Head of Finance Business Partnering & Senior Business Partner with support on monitoring achievement against the Plan.

Responsible for providing the Head of Business partnering and Senior Business Partner with the development and modernisation of all aspects of financial management and budgetary control, including its operation and influence throughout the Trusts financial systems.

Responsible for providing the Head of Business Partnering and Senior Business Partner the revenue for Business Cases that are required to be undertaken.

Co-ordinates the month end checklist process to ensure all tasks are actioned, completed and collated, to control the integrity of the Trust's financial position.

Responsible for the generation of Division budget reports, in accordance with the agreed timetable. Maintaining a monthly checklist of budget holder responses to an audit acceptable standard. Ensuring routine and ad hoc queries are dealt with accurately and within an acceptable timeframe. Responsible for the timely and accurate production of the trust's budgetary management information and the monitoring of performance against budget.

Following complex investigation, completes a monthly analysis of budget variances, including explanations, in a timely and accurate manner.

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience in management accounts
  • Understanding of NHS Financial Procedures and best practice.
  • Experience of working within a busy finance office environment.

Desirable

  • Familiar with Oracle Financial System
  • Experience in delivering Finance training

Qualifications

Essential

  • CCAB Qualified - Diploma Level, or equivalent NHS experience
