Main duties of the job

This is a Locum post. It will help in consolidating the Paediatric Urology and Paediatric Surgery Service in Nottingham and help provide Paediatric Surgery services in peripheral centres.

It is hoped that the post holder's primary elective commitments in Nottingham will be Paediatric Urology to support the service provided by the other Consultants. The post-holder will work between Nottingham and by arrangement support outreach services, which currently take place in Derby, Burton-on-Trent, Chesterfield, King's Mill, Lincoln and Boston. The appointee will provide elective sessions and contribute to the emergency on-call commitments and hot weeks in Nottingham. During the hot-weeks, the post-holder will be on only one site (QMC Campus of NUH) for the duration of the week.

The Directorate is pro-active in the development of protocols for the treatment of paediatric illnesses, both medical and surgical. These are evidence based and each protocol is updated every two years. Protocol review meetings are held monthly. Protocol development occurs as a cross-town initiative with parallel protocols at each site.
