Job summary

The post holder will work as part of a team delivering the Healthy Child Programme (HCP) to the school aged population in Enfield. The School Nurse will work in partnership with Children and Young Peoples team, service users, professional networks and stakeholders to provide Commissioned Services to meet Key Performance Indicators. Ensuring the best possible clinical outcomes by using up-to-date skills and adhering to evidence based policies and procedures.

The post holder will be a qualified School Nurse with a Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) degree.

Main duties of the job

1. To manage and prioritise workload according to the identified health needs within a defined caseload ensuring the effective use of resources.

2. To Review regularly with the Team Leader and Child Protection Supervisor in supervision families causing concern, record agreed action and follow through according to Trust and Safeguarding policies.

3. To organise, develop and participate in public health activities including health promotion with individuals and groups.

4. To work within the policies and guidelines set out by the Trust and NMC- Code of Professional Conduct.

5. To keep contemporaneous notes and accurate records and maintain client confidentiality according to NMC and Trust guidelines.

6. To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibilities of the post.

7. To participate in research/audit and statistical data which are approved and agreed.

Job responsibilities

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  1. To work in partnership with team members, service users and all stake holders in promoting the health and well-being of Children, Young People aged 5-19 years and their families. This will be achieved through effective delegation, work load management, monitoring of care standards, leadership and the performance management of team members.

  1. To identify and monitor health needs of a given population using profiling tools and facilitate the implementation of evidence based care. The practitioner will work in line with the Healthy Child Programme and all policies that promote and safeguard children 5-19 years and their families.

  1. To actively promote immunisation programme.

  1. Support Clinical Service Lead and team to achieve universal and targeted commissioned services.
