Job summary

The post-holder will be responsible to the Consultant team with a senior consultant mentor aligned to the applicants chosen sub-speciality interest. Please note that although the primary base for this role will be at Royal Preston Hospital, the post holder will be expected to work across both Preston and Chorley sites, as per the service and rota requirements.

Main duties of the job

As outlined in the enclosed timetable, the Senior Clinical Fellow will be involved directly with an Interventional Bronchoscopy/ Thoracoscopy list every week, besides at least 2 Respiratory clinics/TB contact clinic. There will be partial responsibility for respiratory in patients, which will be shared with a SpR. He/ She will be involved with clinical research projects in respiratory medicine/ bronchoscopy/thoracoscopy. To keep in touch with Emergency Medicine, and, where necessary, to satisfy training requirements, there is the requirement to do a Medical Assessment Unit shift, on Monday evenings.

The Senior Clinical Fellow can expect extensive training in every aspect of respiratory medicine, including lung cancer, pleural diseases, tuberculosis, asthma, COPD, sleep, ventilation and ILD.
