Job summary

Cancer Services Directorate provides comprehensive pathway coordination and tracking function for patients with known and suspected cancer.

We are responsible for all submissions to Cancer Waiting times, The Cancer Registry, Peer Review and National cancer audits and Datasets. Confidence in operating IT systems is essential.

An opportunity has arisen for a substantive Cancer Pathway Tracker to work within the Cancer Performance Team to undertake the tracking of patients through their cancer pathway.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, together with an ability to prioritise their workload and work well under pressure, using their own initiative and as part of a wider Cancer Performance team to help treat our patients.

The successful candidate will also be required to provide cover support to the Cancer MDT Coordinators during busy periods within the service, including preparing MDT lists and attending pre-MDT and post-MDT meetings. Working hour requirements for this will need flexibility between the hours of 7.30am and 6.30pm.

Your work will be vital in supporting the timely and quality care for patients with suspected or confirmed cancer and in ensuring that the Trust continues to provide a high quality of service for cancer patients.

A good understanding of key NHS policy and cancer targets is essential, as well as having experience of multi-disciplinary working.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for successful monitoring of patients on the Cancer Patient Tracking List (PTL
  • PTL management to ensure patient progression through diagnostic and treatment pathways to meet National Cancer Waiting Times targets
  • Ensure each patient has a complete and informative tracking record on the Cancer database
  • Assist the MDTC with list creation for multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings in order to achieve the national Cancer Waiting Times (CWT) standards.
  • Collect Cancer Outcomes and Services Dataset (COSD) information for patients with cancer diagnoses and to collect national cancer audit data.
