The Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries (MCSI) is looking to appoint an apprentice in business administration.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is keen to start a career in an administration support role whilst working towards a Qualification Credit Framework (formerly NVQ).
The successful candidate will assist the administrative/secretarial team in providing an efficient administrative service to the clinical team on MCSI.
Main duties of the job
Assist to provide an efficient medical records service
Contribute to team working and help to streamline current administrative processes/systems, to include typing of clinic correspondence.
Scanning of correspondence and photocopying of medical records as requested.
Assisting with reception duties; using PAS to book appointments, generating outpatient appointment letters, ringing patients to confirm clinic attendance.
Updating of nurse call logs and pre-op activity.
Assist in any other clerical/admin duties that may be required including harms clinics.

Job responsibilities
Support outpatient booking administrator/receptionist/medical secretary/Business Co-ordinator/Operational Manager
Retrieval of notes for outpatient clinics, clinical correspondence and admissions. Please note some sets of notes are heavy.
Filing of notes within medical records library.
Consolidate medical record entries on EPR system and print off as and when requested.
Scanning of correspondence into medical records system.
Assist with receiving and sending post; date stamping all incoming post, sorting and distribution as appropriate.
Photocopying or scanning of medical records as requested, liaising with Finance and Clinical Governance Departments.
General filing of results and correspondence.
Assist with preparation of weekly clinics.
Photocopy and distribute weekly clinic list.
Generate outpatient forward look using excel.
Assisting with reception duties using PAS, generating outpatient appointment letters and forwarding.
Assist with conference organisation.
Assist with annual dinner organisation.
Taking telephone calls, directing as appropriate and/or taking messages.
Utilising all office equipment as necessary (telephone, e-mail, internet, intranet, printer etc)
Assist in any other clerical/admin duties that maybe required including harms clinics.
Support minute taking in meetings
Assist in the typing of weekly clinics
Ringing patients to confirm clinic attendance
Updating of Nurse call logs

Qualifications/Training
Essential
- Understanding of Microsoft Office/Competent in use of ICT
- GCSE English C grade or above
- GCSE Maths C grade or above
- GCSE ICT C grade or above
