Job summary

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and dynamic registered nurse to join our enthusiastic and supportive Neuro Oncology team, who are committed, driven individuals that are passionate about ensuring outstanding patient care is our highest priority for our complex patient group.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established team as a B6 0.6 WTE Neuro-Oncology CNS and in collaboration with others, further support and develop the existing CNS service to encompass patients with Neuro Oncology High grade and Low -grade Brain tumours at all stages of care and treatment, including follow up.

We are looking for an individual who is keen to utilise opportunities to gain clinical, leadership and service development experience as a band 6 within a forward thinking and supportive team. You must be an effective team player with excellent communication and organisational skills and have the ability to think outside of the box.

Main duties of the job

Job purpose

The post holder will work as an important member of the Multidisciplinary Team within University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust and across the community.

The post holder will provide specialist nursing guidance working as a Generic Neuro-Oncology CNS by providing support for patients with high grade Brain Tumours predominantly but will also support Neuro Oncology Low-grade Brain tumours (primary) at all stages of care and treatment, including follow-up.

The post holder will utilize skills of clinical expertise, education and management to ensure a seamless service for patients, carers and staff. They will provide advice, support and information from the time of diagnosis and throughout curative, palliative and terminal phases.

They will work closely with the multidisciplinary team in hospital and the community to ensure a co-ordinated quality service and will be actively involved in education, audit and research.

The post holder will engage in discussions in multidisciplinary team meetings, including the Teenage and Young People MDT meeting, where appropriate and in the absence of the Band 7 CNS, will present patients, acting as an advocate for all patients with a diagnosis of primary brain tumours and contributing to the transition from paediatric to adult services where appropriate. The post holder will work with the Band 7 CNS to improve diagnosis and care pathways at time of diagnosis, care and end of life as per the NICE guidelines.
