Job summary

The primary aim is to support the delivery of financial consultancy transformation projects and assignments for customers to time and budget.

Main duties of the job

Working with customers to understand, develop and document their business requirements into formal statements of work

Ensuring the portfolio of financial consultancy tasks and projects are planned and managed, and that outputs are delivered in a timely and effective manner for customers

Supporting the delivery of financial consultancy projects by undertaking financial modelling and analysis of complex data sets to identify, investigate and explain variances and trends

Producing high-quality financial reports and analyses, including non-financial data

Producing accurate and timely management accounts in line with periodic deadlines

Proactively seek ways to improve reporting processes, sharing best practices and challenging the status quo by working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams

To carry out other appropriate delegated duties as required by their Manager

  • AAT Qualified; qualified or studying towards full ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA professional qualification

  • Significant experience in project management, management accounting, financial management or supporting change management processes

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Experience in management accounting processes and variance analysis
  • Experienced in the use of large, integrated computer-based finance systems and ledger systems to produce high quality financial and management reporting
  • Thorough understanding of the principles of management accounting and financial control.
  • General accounting approaches/techniques
  • A good understanding of the health and social care environment and roles and responsibilities within it
  • Providing detailed advice and guidance to finance and non-finance managers on matters relating to their own area

Desirable

  • Experience in project management and planning. Good knowledge of project principles, techniques, and tools, such as Prince 2 Foundation and Microsoft Project
  • Further training or significant experience in project management or supporting change management processes
  • Experience of coordinating projects in complex and challenging environments

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and Advanced Excel
  • Knowledge of Financial Systems for monitoring budget management, processing invoices, procurement, and business planning processes
