Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic HCPC registered Radiographer to support the training and education of our team, enabling the safe, efficient and effective provision of the Imaging Service across University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will focus on the training and continuing professional development required to maintain compliance with the Ionising Radiation Regulations and the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposures) Regulations within the University Hospitals Derby and Burton Imaging Service. They will ensure that the patient safety and patient experience is always at the forefront of their interactions with staff and all types of service users.

Main duties of the job

Applications are invited for the position of Superintendent Radiographer - Education & Professional Development - Compliance

The post holder will be a key member of the Imaging Compliance Team and have first line responsibility for the delivery of training and professional development to present and future staff, with a particular focus radiation protection. This post holder will oversee the education and training needs of both students and staff members in order to meet the Imaging service's requirement to be compliant with relevant legislation in order to maintain the safety of patients, visitors and staff.

Person Specification

Qualification

Essential

  • BSc Hons or equivalent in Diagnostic Radiography.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Significant post registration practice, resulting in the broadening of expert knowledge and experience.
  • Highly specialised knowledge in imaging, underpinned by theory and experience.
  • Experience of delivering training to staff from a range of roles and grades

Desirable

  • Leadership and/or communication training.
  • Portfolio demonstrating multiple CPD activities.
  • Management Experience.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Expert knowledge in core practice imaging examinations, underpinned by theory and experience.
  • Up to date breadth and knowledge of IRMER and IRR.
  • Proven track record in training, educating and mentoring Imaging staff.
  • Proven organisational skills.
  • Proven problem solving skills.

Desirable

  • PG Certification in Radiographic Education or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of QSI

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstration of high standards of technical skills.
  • Experience and enthusiasm for training staff and students.
  • Experience and enthusiasm for sharing knowledge, experience and for promoting quality and good governance.
  • Progressive and successful attitude to own CPD.
  • Experience of providing CPD opportunities to others.

Desirable

  • Experience in Radiographic education roles.
  • Experience of organisation of CPD lectures, study days and short courses.
