Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic team player to come and join our nursing team. If you have an interest in elderly care and rehabilitation and want to work in a high functioning team to support patients and their families during the most challenging of times, this could be the post for you. Tenbury Community Hospital is a rural inpatient setting of 22 beds that supports patients as a step down to receive ongoing medical treatment, rehabilitation, discharge planning or end of life care which no longer requires acute support but cannot be managed in the community

Main duties of the job

As a registered nursing associate you will be responsible for providing care to people admitted to our ward for rehabilitation. We work closely as a multi-disciplinary team. Our focusispromoting the comfort and wellbeing of patients, enablingthemto live as independently as possible. Tenbury is a small but friendly team to work with. As a team we encourage ongoing learning and development through reflection and clinical supervision which we try and embed in our daily practice. Our nurses and nursing associates are required to facilitate the day to day running of the ward, administering medications, working alongside all members of the MDT as well as patients, their families and carers to provided 24/7 rehabilitation to enable the highest level of independence and quality of life. Our nurses are required to attend meetings as needed such as MDT and CHC or Discharge Planning.

Job responsibilities

  • Work with the wider nursing and health care team to:
  • Participate in the delivery of patient care
  • Contribute towards ward/department organisation
  • Give support to registered nurses in the provision of a safe and caring environment
  • Assist in the induction, supervision and training of Healthcare Support Workers and student nurses and nursing associates.
  • Demonstrate a level of skill and understanding which enables them to undertake specific tasks delegated by the nurse/Allied Health Professional (AHP) in charge and in accordance with relevant procedures, guidelines and policies. The post holder will undertake both routine and specially identified tasks for which they have been trained and assessed as competent.
  • It is expected that Nursing Associates will be able to carry out all of the core competencies outlined in the job description but their duties and competencies will vary according to speciality agreed extended competencies. Similar or related duties may be undertaken in support of the environment, which are not listed.
  • Supervise, assess and mentor Healthcare Support Workers, Trainee Nursing Associates and other unregistered staff and assist in the supervision and learning of other healthcare students with the exception of their assessment.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Foundation Degree Nursing Associate qualification
  • NMC Nursing Associate registration
  • GCSE English (grade A-C) or equivalent
  • GCSE Maths (grade A-C) or equivalent
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience in prioritising own workload
  • Experience in working without direct supervision

Desirable

  • Previous experience as a Healthcare Support Worker involved in direct patient care in a care environment

Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Able to work competently without supervision
