We have an exciting Trainee Nurse Associate position that has been newly introduced within our integrated Mental Health team. This position is open to applicants who are not currently on, or have not previously completed a trainee nurse associate programme. As part of this role you will be completing a 2 year nurse associate course supported by Practice Plus Group. The position will be basedat HMP Askham Grange,a female prison located in York. The prison offers an opportunity for up to ten mothers to maintain full-time care of their child or children whilst in custody. It also facilitates a comprehensive resettlement regime for long and, increasingly, short-stay residents.

Hours

37.5 hours per week over days, weekends and evenings. This will also include 1 day a week allocated for university plus additional study time.

Salary

This position is full time,youll receive an annual salary up to £27,195per annum - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Trainee Nurse Associate within the mental health team, you will learn to

  • Work as part of a team, delivering patient centred evidence-based care
  • Carry out specific clinical tasks and responsibilities to meet the patients needs such implementing care for patients with non-complex mental health needs
  • Co-facilitate group interventions
  • Deliver1:1 caseload interventions such as managing low mood and anxiety
  • Complete observations in relation to annual physical health checks for patients with a serious mental health condition and administer medications
  • Deliver a non-judgmental service as part of the wider integrated healthcare team whilst always considering the safeguarding of the patient and others

Qualifications required

  • Have the right to work in the UK (if on any type of visa, it must not expire until after the apprenticeship completion)
  • Have lived in the UK continuously for the past 3 years
  • Have not previously studied the same course content
  • Not be undertaking any other government funded training
  • Have certificates or other valid evidence to show achievement of maths and English GCSE at minimum grade C/4 (or equivalent qualifications such as level 2 Functional Skills)
  • Level 2 Healthcare qualification or Care Certificate
