Job summary
We are looking to appoint to 2x Whole-Time equivalent Locum Consultants in Neonatal Medicine to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust based at Jessop Wing Maternity Hospital and Sheffield Children's Hospital. The first post is fixed term for twelve months and the other is for nine months.
We would welcome applications from candidates across the full spectrum of experience, from those who have recently completed training to those who have well-established careers.
Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.

Main duties of the job
The appointee will, together with consultant colleagues, be responsible for the provision of a comprehensive neonatal service for the period of the locum. The appointee will work between the Jessop Wing Neonatal Unit, covering Intensive Care and High Dependency Care, and the Sheffield Children's Hospital, covering the Neonatal Surgical Unit.

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered (or eligible to be registered) with the GMC with a licence to practice.
- MCRPCH or equivalent
Desirable
- MD or PhD or equivalent
- Name on the specialist register for paediatrics or eligible within 6 months of the date of the interview, or equivalent non-UK qualifications.
Clinical Experience
Essential
- Ability to work as an independent practitioner in neonatology.
- Clinical experience in the management of neonatal surgical patients.
- Extensive clinical experience in tertiary neonatal intensive care centres.
Desirable
- Ability to undertake Point of Care ultrasound.
Research
Essential
- Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate

- Publications in Peer reviewed journals
Teaching and Training
Essential
- Experience of teaching student doctors and doctors in training at all levels

- To have the ability to teach to all groups of staff.
