Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified midwife sonographer to join the maternity team supporting with the delivery of scanning requirements in relation to Saving Babies Lives.

The post holder will be qualified and competent in 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimester obstetric scanning. Competency with uterine arterial doppler (UtAD) would be desirable but full training and assessment of competency would be given .

Main duties of the job

The midwife sonographer will have completed a PGCert in obstetric Ultrasound and have completed a period of consolidation. The midwife sonographer will support the redelivery of clinical care in relation to the national drivers in Ultrasound (Saving babies Lives V3). Following completion of training, the midwife sonographer will be competent to perform Uterine Arterial Doppler (UtAD) assessments on eligible women. This will include interpreting the UtAD and ensuring the appropriate care pathway is in place for women.

  • Registered Midwife with current registration
  • Post graduate Certificate in Obstetric Ultrasound
  • Mentorship or equivalent qualification
  • Degree in relevant health related subject

  • Masters level study or Degree

Experience

  • Currebtly practicing as a midwife sonographer
  • Ability to lead and initiate change
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload
  • Sound knowledge of professional agenda
