Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen, and we are looking to recruit a highly motivated Principal Applied Psychologist who has a strong interest in neurodiversity and neurodivergence within our Children's Neurodevelopmental (Autism & ADHD) assessment pathway. We have a permanent 8b post with part-time and flexible working options. You will be required to undertake neurodevelopmental assessments of children up to 18 years, as part of a wider team.

This is an exciting time to be joining this service as the Neurodevelopmental pathways in the Children's care group have been working closely with our partner agencies to develop a more integrated and multi-agency/ disciplinary service. You will be joining a dynamic and supportive group of psychologists and other professionals including nurses, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists who are committed to working within a compassionate framework where your development and well-being will be prioritised and encouraged.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will be expected to have excellent communication skills and will provide consultation to families, schools and other professional and agencies when there is ASD and/or ADHD queries. There will also be the opportunities to be involved in on-going service development and clinical leadership. There will also be a requirement to undertake Autism & ADHD assessments and to consider differential diagnoses.You will have relevant demonstrable experience of working as an applied psychologist and have specialist psychological/ neurodevelopmental assessment and interventions of clients across the full range of care settings, along with experience of working in multi-agency teams and with a wide variety of client groups which reflect the full range of clinical severity. Formulation is key in the service that we provide and it is essential that you can demonstrate the ability to formulate a young person's strengths and needs. A Doctoral level knowledge of research and design and methodology is essential as is the ability to work effectively in a team setting.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical/counselling/forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
  • HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist

Desirable

  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
