Job summary

An opportunity has arisen at The Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (RHN) for a highly skilled, well organised and motivated Band 7 Podiatrist to join our organisation. The successful candidate will manage and run the service while delivering specialist podiatric care to patients with complex neurological disabilities, contributing to their overall health and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in accordance with the College of Podiatry and Health and Care Professions Council Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Provide comprehensive podiatric assessments and treatments, focusing on patients with highly complex disabilities and chronic diabetic foot problems.
  • Develop and implement individualised treatment plans, relevant to the patients condition and needs.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nursing and medical staff, to ensure holistic patient care, and to promote multi-disciplinary working.
  • Receive internal referrals for both routine and urgent appointments based on an agreed referral criteria.
  • Participate in and contribute to clinical audits, research projects, and the development of podiatric services.
  • Educate and train patients, families, and staff on foot care and preventative measures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring compliance with professional and organizational standards.

Main duties of the job

This post requires a person who is highly specialised and has extensive knowledge, clinical skills and relevant experience in the field of Podiatry, providing comprehensive care for patients with highly complex disabilities who are at risk of developing foot problems. You will also be required to provide education and support to other members of staff in the management of good foot health.

The successful candidate will have full clinical responsibility for the treatment of common and complex foot care, including diabetic foot care, and will work both autonomously and part of a wider multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will also be responsible for the safe and effective management of the service including appointment scheduling, stock management, ensuring all relevant regulations and standards are adhered to, and sound, accurate input of electronic treatment records.

Salary Grade:£46,660 - £59,198 per annum FTE (Dependent on Experience) Salary to be pro-rata to required hours.

Contract: Fixed Term 24 months

Hours: Part time 2 days a week, 15 Hours per week (0.44 FTE)

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc (Hons) in Podiatry or equivalent qualification.
  • HCPC registration as a Podiatrist.

Desirable

  • MSc in Podiatry or related field.

Experience

Essential

  • Significant post-qualification experience, preferably in a neuro-disability or complex care setting.
  • Proven ability to manage a complex caseload independently.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.

Desirable

  • Experience in research and audit processes.
  • Previous experience in a Band 7 role or equivalent.
