Schoen Clinic Newbridge is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Consultant Psychiatrist in CAMHS Eating Disorders.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established service with a national and international reputation, which is currently at 34 inpatient beds as well as daycare and outpatient services.
The successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing development of the service, providing clinicalexpertise in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. He/she will be working with and supported by an experienced Associate Specialist and will be responsible for the psychiatric and medical management of patients, including patients detained under the Mental Health Act.
You will be working as part of a highly talented and close multidisciplinary team of eating disorder professionals. The support you will provide will enable young people to help themselves recover from their disordered eating.

Main duties of the job
The role of the Consultant Psychiatrist will be on a full or part-time basis (number of working days is flexible)for our eating disorders hospital for children and young peoplein Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham.
Medical assessment of patients
Psychiatric assessment including eating disorder and non-eating disorder psychopathology
Formulation of complex cases with medical and psychiatric needs
Risk assessment and management for the medical and psychiatric components of the disorder
Taking a leading role in the monitoring and treatment of physical complications of eating disorders in collaboration with other health care professionals (nurses, dieticians, physicians, paediatricians, general practitioners, etc)
Attend the clinical MDT meetings as well as take part in MDT discussions around high-risk patients
Participate in multidisciplinary discussions regarding the most appropriate treatment settings for patients
Implementation of guidelines
Treating and monitoring of psychiatric aspects of eating disorders, including core psychopathology and psychiatric co-morbidities, such as depression, obsessive-compulsivedisorders, borderline personality disorder and autistic spectrumdisorders
Prescribing, which extends beyond the usual psychiatric formulary, and appropriately monitoring medications (according to relevant NICE guidelines)

Qualifications
Essential
- Specialist registration with the General Medical Council and a license to practice
- MRCPsych or equivalent
Experience
Essential
- Approved Clinician status or willingness to achieve this
- Registration for CPD with the Royal College of Psychiatrists and in good standing
- Knowledge of psychopharmacology as applied to eating disorders
- Knowledge of the physical and nutritional complications of eating disorders and their management
- High degree of self-awareness and ability to reflect on own emotional responses to patients
- Willingness to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Minimum of one years experience of eating disorders as a higher trainee or equivalent
- Experience of a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches used in the treatment of eating disorders
- Experience of the management of refeeding in severely underweight patients
Desirable
- Training in one or more psycho-therapeutic modality used in the treatment of eating disorders
- Experience of research and/or teaching relevant publications
