Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a forward thinking candidate to join our Cancer Services team here at North Bristol Trust in the role of Cancer MDT and Performance Manager.

The successful post holder will work closely alongside the cancer services manager, cancer MDT coordinator's and the clinical and non-clinical teams delivering cancer services within North Bristol Trust.

You will have experience in the delivery of cancer pathways, delivering performance and MDT administration with an eye for detail and excellent interpersonal skills. You will need proven keyboard skills and an aptitude for using a variety of IT systems.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Responsible for the efficient running of the 10 clinical cancer multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs) at North Bristol NHS Trust, including compliance around national Peer Review measures
  • Manage the Trusts compliance of achieving the Cancer Waiting Times targets
  • Implement and manage tracking processes to ensure achievement of the Cancer Waiting Times Standards and for effective patient pathway management
  • Ensure all data related to cancer pathways and Cancer Waiting Times is audited and submitted to meet national performance standards
  • Communicate guidance changes with senior management and clinical staff and support pathway redesign with specialties where necessary
  • Forecast and identify potential pathway issues directly impacting patients and Trust performance
  • Liaison with all members of the multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) to service the MDT meetings and patient pathway management
  • Manage and lead the Cancer Services team to ensure accurate and timely data collection of patient pathways which is compliant with national standards
  • Line management of Cancer Services Support Managers, and general oversight of the Cancer Services team
  • Maintain the functionality of the Somerset Cancer Register to manage the storage and retrieval of multiple national datasets
  • Work collaboratively with Cancer BI Data Analyst in the preparation of cancer data for internal and external requirements on a regular basis (including monthly/quarterly upload to NHS Digital)
  • Lead on the internal and national Peer Review and Quality Surveillance process and ensure compliance with local and national submission timeframes
  • To ensure the delivery of Cancer Services within the Trust are consistent with both national and local strategy, to include NICE and Department of Heath Guidance.
  • Deputise for the Cancer Services Manager when necessary
  • Line management of Cancer Services Support Managers, and general oversight of the Cancer Services team
  • Budget and finance management for the department

Person Specification

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • At least 4 years working in healthcare related service
  • Interpersonal and communication skills, able to encourage, negotiate and influence. Above all, an ability to listen and understand different points of view.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Be able to work independently to monitor performance and manage patient pathways to achieve the National Targets
  • Knowledge of Cancer Waiting Times

  • Experience working in cancer services

  • Ability to chair and facilitate meetings
