NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Integrated Care Board (ICB) are looking for a talented and energetic digital communications specialist to join our communications and engagement team.

The successful candidate will be critical in supporting the development and implementation of a strategy to enhance our internal and external digital communication functions to meet the needs of our health and care system.

The role would be ideal for an experienced digital communications professional who feels confident working on multiple projects with an understanding of the health and care sector.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will need to have strong project management skills and proven experience of delivering digital projects. They will havestrong writing skills, good knowledge of digital media and e-marketing channels, analytics and search optimisation (SEO) techniques, along with graphic design and video editing skills.

The post holder willneed to be experienced in and passionate about engaging audiences through video, podcasts, graphics, photography, written copy and animation. They will also have the technical graphic design skills to create digital assets and the ability to translate complex information into compelling and engaging writing, images and stories for a wide range of stakeholders.

The post holder also needs to embody the NHS values, demonstrating real commitment to wanting to improve the way we deliver services for our population. We are looking for a dynamic, motivated individual who is a self-starter, able to adapt to new strategies, ideas and ways of working.

Job description

Job responsibilities

As Senior Digital Communications Officer, you will support the Communications and Engagement Team to deliver compelling content and create marketing and communication campaigns using digital, predominately, as well as traditional media.

You will help to promote NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin within the county, enhance and uphold its reputation and increase patient and stakeholder engagement.

The main responsibilities will include:

Being the first point of call for digital communications expertise, advice and support for a range of internal stakeholders and partners.

Acting as a specialist for digital, social media, video production and graphic design.

Developing, implementing and evaluating a strategy for developing digital communications functions with the support of the Communications and Engagement Team.

Ensuring all digital communications activity is developed in line with best practice and meets the latest requirements set out in the Digital Accessibility Standards.

Sourcing and developing strong written content for websites, intranet and social media channels, as well as other external channels.

Preparing business cases for new digital applications and platforms to enhance digital capability.

Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the effectiveness of NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekins digital and social media channels.

Monitoring and continually auditing digital content to ensure it is relevant, up-to-date and consistent with corporate identity.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Member of the CIPR or CIM

Experience

Essential

  • Relevant PR or digital communications experience.
  • Significant experience of web design development including the management and maintenance of website and intranets
  • Significant experience of digital production including graphics, film, illustration and other content.
  • Experience of planning social media campaigns
  • Experience of working in a busy communications team environment
  • Experience of creating and delivery communications campaigns
  • Experience of social media channel management and development
  • Experience of working with web platforms such as WordPress
  • Experience of the development and delivery of digital communications plans and strategies

Knowledge and Understanding

  • Strong Knowledge of web and online collaboration platforms, developments and trends
  • Excellent knowledge of video production techniques, graphic design and other methods for creating content
