This role is set to revolutionise the way in which our Cancer Nursing and AHP workforce have equal access to a standardised education and training framework which will improve care for patients and improve retention of staff. The role of this Project Delivery Manager is to provide robust project management to Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance to implement and embed the Aspirant Cancer Career and Education Development Programme across our footprint.

The Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance are looking for an experienced and skilled Project Delivery Manager to take on this role. Were looking for an authentic and self-motivated individual, with a proven track record of successful project management, who is looking for an opportunity to develop their skills and take on the project management of defined elements of a much larger programme of work.

ACCEND has been developed nationally to provide transformational reform in the education, training and career pathways for cancer support workers, nurses and AHPs supporting people affected by cancer.

Under the leadership of the Clinical and Professional Nursing and AHP Lead for the Alliance, you will develop expertise in the programme and work with our providers and partner organisations to ensure that ACCEND is fully integrated and embedded as part of the workforce and education culture.

Main duties of the job

Develop expert knowledge of the ACCEND programme

Develop a strategy for implementing ACCEND across our clinical areas. This is likely to include:

Developing relationships with education leads at our Trusts and ICBs

Scoping and mapping existing training and educational opportunities to the framework

Working collaboratively with our partner Cancer Alliances across the North East, to review job roles and descriptions aligning where possible to the ACCEND capabilities

Overseeing the rollout of the Digital skills passport when it is released

Evaluating the impact of the ACCEND programme across our alliance in particular with regards to recruitment and retention of the existing workforce.

The project management and day to day running of one or more large scale transformation projects

The setting up and planning of the project(s) including project steering groups, project assurance function and any project teams

Ensuring that the project reporting adheres to the Cancer Alliance programme governance framework

Ensuring effective communication to all stakeholders

Identify and manage the risks associated with each project

Managing the change brought about by the project effectively and efficiently

Maintaining knowledge of local, regional and national projects that are current and pending

About us

We feel passionately about improving cancer services for our communities and this vacancy would suit an experienced Project Support Officer looking for an introduction to project management in a fast paced and innovative organisation.

We actively encourage wellness at work and have implemented weekly team wellness walks, we offer hybrid working and are very keen to getting the work life balance right for our team. There is free parking for staff at our base Health House, we are also conveniently located next to a retail park.

The role is full time, 37.5hrs a week, working a 9am-5pm shift pattern, there is no weekend working expectation or on call responsibility

Qualifications

Essential

  • Extensive knowledge of specialist areas and knowledge relevant to the role acquired through masters level qualification or equivalent experience
  • Should have an appreciation of the relationship between NHSE, provider and commissioning organisations and the broader health and care system
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

  • Project Management qualification and/or training
  • Management qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of successfully leading change management initiatives and specific change projects
  • Experience of producing robust business plans
  • Experience of building and sustaining effective and productive working relationships with a wide range of people at all levels and across a wide variety of agencies
  • Significant experience of public and patient involvement in service planning

Desirable

  • Management experience in different health/social care settings
  • Operational management experience
  • Experience of contract negotiation
