Job summary

Our homes provide the right environment for you to deliver the outstanding care our residents deserve. As a qualified Nurse with current NMC registration, youll be responsible for the whole patient experience, dealing with clinical diagnosis and treatment. Surrounded by a well-resourced multi-disciplinary team, youll be fully supported in your role to provide the highest quality, person-centred care to our residents.

Bickerley Green is a CQC rated Good nursing and residential home situated within the New Forest, just a five-minute walk from Ringwood town centre.

Set in attractive landscape gardens with accommodation over two floors, we have the latest equipment required to meet our residents needs while maintaining a welcoming, relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The nursing side is home for 30 residents with general nursing needs or dementia.Each room has an en-suite and the site is divided into three group-living areas, all with a communal lounge, kitchenette and specially adapted bathrooms and toilets. The residential side comprises of 30 single rooms providing care for persons with dementia or the physically frail.

Main duties of the job

As a Nurse you'll deliver a broad range of healthcare services to older people with mental and physical health needs, offering long term dementia care and bed based reablement for hospital leavers, so no two days are ever the same.

You'll deal with clinical diagnosis and treatment, be responsible for the whole patient experience and build relationships with the people in your care. Our residents are at the heart of everything we do, and our sole aim is to give them the dignity, respect and independence they deserve.

Your knowledge and understanding of elderly care and experience of involving residents, families or carers in care planning, monitoring and evaluating services is essential. Your responsibilities

In this role you will be responsible for:

Provision of person-centred, professional nursing care to residents within Older Adults nursing homes and Short-Term Services.

Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care plans for a designated number of residents.

Maintaining accurate records on resident care and reporting clinical and non-clinical events to assist with internal and external audits.

Supervising, mentoring, supporting and educating more junior staff in the home.

Liaising with other healthcare professionals and work in collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team, ensuring a timely escalation when needed.

Promoting good practice to achieve continuous improvements in nursing care and assist with audit trials and bench marking clinical services within the home.

Day to day tasks may include:

Phlebotomy, injections, syringe pumps, insertion/removal of urinary

catheters and removal of sutures.

Dealing with wounds.

Supporting end of life care.

Involving and engaging with residents and their families during the care planning process

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of elderly care and the Health and

  • An understanding of how care is delivered in a social care setting.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a relevant health or social care setting.
  • Experience of involving residents/families or carers in care planning,
  • monitoring and evaluating services.

  • Good clinical skills.
  • Able to provide direct care for Older Adults.
  • Good communication skills and able to overcome barriers to
  • communication where necessary, demonstrating patience.
  • Able to engage and communicate effectively with people who may have specific communication needs.
  • Able to build/sustain effective professional relationships with a range
  • of people, including residents, their friends and relatives, colleagues
  • and members of the wider multi- disciplinary team.
  • Shows empathy and understanding of the emotional and social needs
  • of older people and is able to effectively support these.
