Main duties of the job

As Lottery Sales and Marketing Lead, you will take the lead in devising and delivering key sales actions to grow the lottery income for Willowbrook Hospice.

Working within a strong and supportive fundraising team, you will research and identify opportunities to increase our lottery membership through forging new and successful relationships. You will utilise your exceptional sales skills to engage with corporate and individuals amongst our community of supporters to drive up our active lottery membership.

About us

Willowbrook Hospice is a purpose built independent hospice opened in 1997. It is an adult hospice caring for patients with specialist palliative care needs, serving the community of St Helens and Knowsley. It was built with the support of local people. The Hospice works to improve the lives of people who have a life-limiting or terminal illness, helping them to live well before they die.

Willowbrook Hospice not only takes care of peoples physical needs but looks after their emotional, spiritual and social needs as well. It also supports carers, family members and close friends, both during a persons illness and in bereavement.

Job responsibilities

The Charity Lottery Sales and Marketing Lead is responsible for delivering effective marketing and promotion activities to drive the sales performance of the Willowbrook Hospice Lottery within our community.

This role is focused on devising and implementing sales strategies to grow Lottery entries, whilst ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Strategy Development:

Develop and implement sales strategies and actions to maximise revenue growth through increasing sales

Analyse market trends and customer preferences to inform strategy and sales tactics.

Customer Relations:

Maintain an active presence in the local community to promote and sell the lottery to groups, businesses and local people. This includes attending workplaces, community groups and both Willowbrook and community fundraiser events.

Build and maintain strong relationships with lottery players, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and engagement.

Sales Operations:

Monitor and analyse sales data to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.

Coordinate with the fundraising team to develop promotional materials and campaigns that drive sales.

Ensure all sales activities comply with lottery regulations and company policies.

Promote new Lottery sign ups within our community area.

Reporting and Analysis:

Prepare regular sales reports for the executive leadership and trustee committees, detailing performance, challenges, and opportunities.

Use data and analytics to provide insights and recommendations for improving sales performance.

Compliance and Regulations:

Ensure all sales activities adhere to lottery and gambling regulations and all laws.

Stay updated on changes in lottery laws and regulations and ensure the team is informed and compliant.

Lottery Management:

Provide training to colleagues staff and volunteers in relation to selling Lottery products.

Budget Management:

Manage the sales budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to meet sales targets.

Monitor expenses and optimize spending to achieve financial objectives.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of experience in sales, preferably in Charity Lotteries, fundraising, retail or the consumer goods industry.

Skills:

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Proficient in data analysis and sales forecasting.

Ability to develop and implement effective sales strategies.

Knowledge of lottery products and regulations is essential.

Flexibility:

This position requires travel within the local area.

The Lottery Sales and Marketing Lead must be able to work flexible hours with occasional requirements to work evenings and weekends, as required, to effectively promote and grow the Willowbrook Hospice Lottery via devising and delivering a range of promotional and awareness activities. This will include the use of winner stories to increase active membership growth.

The Lottery Sales and Marketing Lead will ensure the administrative functions are completed correctly to run the lottery in the absence of the Donations and Lottery Lead. Training will be provided to support this requirement.

Role specific activities:

Liaise with the Donations and Lottery Lead to support the process for ensuring all newly signed up entries are included at time of sign-up.

Utilise Willowbrooks lottery CRM database Donorflex, producing relevant data reports with analysis, extracting data as required for direct marketing appeals, development of supporter contacts and campaign planning and evaluations.

Develop and deliver an effective lottery donor management plan.

Assist the Head of Fundraising to drive improvement and innovation of supporter engagement to maximise lottery income generation.

Meet agreed targets and KPIs.

Maintain accurate and timely records as required.

Ensure all records and contact details are kept up to date and ensure compliance with data protection legislation (GDPR).

Collate, analyse, and present statistical information as required.

General:

Support general office efficiency when on site: take phone calls, take messages, and deal with supporter queries as required.

Assist in responding to routine correspondence and preparing mail shots.

Be flexible in approach and support fundraising events as and when required.

Maintain a smart appearance and polite demeanour.

Always act to promote Willowbrook hospice positively.

Maintain confidentiality in respect of all information.

Be aware of all relevant legislation and adhere to legal guidelines e.g., Fundraising Regulator Codes of Fundraising Practice, etc.

Undertake any other duties required within the fundraising department, including supporting other departments across the hospice when required.

Be aware of personal responsibilities regarding all Hospice policies/ guidelines.

Additional:

Adhere to Willowbrook No Smoking policy, all fire, health & safety regulations and policies of the Hospice.

Attend and comply with mandatory training requirements plus any other training as deemed appropriate.

  • Understanding of charity fundraising requirement
  • Donorflex software experience

Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum of a Level 3 qualification
  • Maths at level 2
