Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Practice Nurse to join a busy multidisciplinary teams at HMP Humber.
The post holder will practice independently and autonomously delivering care and treatment to patients at HMP Humber. The post holder will have gained a wide range of knowledge and clinical skills in a Primary care setting, including Spirometry, Long Term Condition management and be willing to consider further learning and development around Non Medical Prescribing.
Main duties of the job
The Senior Practice Nurse will have management, leadership and development responsibilities for the healthcare team.
The post holder will have excellent organisational and time management skills to ensure clinics and services are managed efficiently and effectively, without compromising patient care or safety.

Education and Training
Essential
- Registered Nurse/1st Degree
- NMC registered.
- Post registration Level 3 or 4 qualification in history taking and physical examination skills
- Non-Medical Prescriber or prepared to work towards
- Evidence of relevant up to date CPD
- Diploma in a Long-Term Condition management eg. asthma / diabetes
- Recent or current experience in Primary Care
- Experience of developing and delivering training
Desirable
- Teaching and Assessing qualification
- Minor illness and minor injury accredited course Level 3 or 4
- Accredited Family Planning/ sexual Health qualification.
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Strong clinical decision maker
- Demonstrates excellent, organisational, time management and motivational skills
- Advocate for patients
- Ability to identify training needs of self and others
- Extensive experience at senior level in relevant field
- Relevant transferable skills such as wound care management.
- Demonstrable clinical examination and assessment skills e.g. history taking, physical assessment with undifferentiated diagnoses.
- Minor illness and minor illness examination and assessment skills.
- Experience of audit participation
- Effective networking with colleagues at all levels, experience or working across professional and organisational boundaries
- Ability to demonstrate commitment to high quality patient care and service innovation
- Experience of providing and maintaining effective and safe student placements
Desirable
- Evidence of prior experience of change management within the health care setting
- Evidence of published work in relevant field
- Proven record to initiate and manage service development
- Ability to lead audit
- Proven track record, demonstrable knowledge, and skills of formal research experience
- Evidence of sound management and leadership experience within specialism
- Experience in a prison setting
