Do you want to make a difference to children and young people with complex mental health needs?

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and passionate senior mental health nurse to provide support to the already established nursing team and wider MDT. Ideally you must have a minimum of 2 years experience as an RMN.

You will be part of a talented multidisciplinary team, working together, sharing expertise and benefiting from excellent professional development opportunities. All focused on being the best you can be, to deliver CAMHS services that really stand out.

You will work collaboratively with the ward manager to lead the team, with a commitment to their professional development as well as your own.

Main duties of the job

Wessex House is a generic adolescent inpatient unit for young people from the age of 13 years, up until 18 years of age. Wessex House has developed effective working practices with a rich and diverse therapeutic structure.

You will contribute to the assessment, planning and implementation of treatment plans for children and young people with complex mental health needs and their families, who would benefit from admission to an inpatient unit. You will supervise support staff, participating in a variety of therapeutic activities related to the client care plans.

You will inspire the team and the patients to be the best that they can be and your communication skills will ensure the team work well together to achieve team objectives and maintain excellent standards of care.

Liaison, advice and consultation with wider CAMHS colleagues and a range of external agencies such as Children and Social Care and education will be a key part of the role.

  • Current registration with relevant professional body NMC
  • Relevant degree or working towards
  • Relevant professional qualification e.g. registered mental health nurse

  • Relevant management and leadership experience/training/qualification

Experience

  • Knowledge of Recovery focused practice
  • Experience as a Mental Health professional
  • Relevant experience in a community/inpatient setting

Desirable

  • Knowledge and experience of a range of therapies, e.g.; motivational interviewing, solution focused therapy and a psychological therapy (i.e. CBT/DBT)
