Job summary

Are you an experienced band 6 physiotherapist wanting to work with complex older adults?

If so, then this post would be an excellent opportunity for you! We are looking for a dynamic, passionate, and proactive individual with excellent communication skills join our inpatient multi-disciplinary team on Roseberry Ward, Lanchester Road Hospital for 4 days a week and also provide support in Auckland Park Hospital 1 day per week .

Significant post qualifying experience in Physiotherapy including experience working with older people with complex needs is essential. Experience of working with patients with mental health needs is desirable.

Main duties of the job

You will be an autonomous qualified physiotherapist providing assessment, treatment planning and provision for older people with functional illness (such as anxiety / depression/ schizophrenia), requiring an inpatient admission, who have complex physical and psychological needs. Often these patients present with additional needs around frailty syndrome so you will be expected to assess using appropriate outcome measures and deliver physiotherapy specific interventions to address frailty syndrome.

You will be working closely with other professions in the inpatient MDT, contributing to daily ward report out meetings, weekly frailty meetings and where applicable, admission and discharge meetings. In addition to managing patient's needs whilst they are on the ward, you may also be required to support discharge from the ward into patient's own homes or offer a handover to care home establishments where applicable and liaise with community mental health physiotherapists for any ongoing needs in the community setting. You will be HCPC registered.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy
  • Registration with HCPC
  • Evidence of current professional insurance cover
  • Post-graduate training relevant to the post (or willing to undertake within agreed timescale)
  • Accredited Clinical Educator (or willing to undertake within agreed timescale)
  • Clinical Supervisory Skills course (or willing to undertake within agreed timescale).
  • Trust training in Appraisal and Recruitment (within an agreed timescale)
  • Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)

Desirable

  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience in Physiotherapy including experience working with service users in mental health or learning disabilities with complex needs.
  • Experience of supervising students on placement
  • Experience of participation in quality improvement activities
  • Experience of participation in clinical governance activities
