Job summary

We are looking for an experienced and skilled Project Delivery Manager to take on this role, were looking for an authentic and self-motivated individual with a proven track record of successful project management who is looking for an opportunity to develop their skills and take on the project management of defined elements of a larger programme of work. The Awareness and Early Diagnosis Programme focusses on working with ICBs, Primary Care and Place stakeholders, with a view to supporting the earlier diagnosis of cancer through increasing awareness, improving rapid access to cancer services and the right diagnostic test at the right time to reach our goal of 75% of patients being diagnosed at stage 1 or 2. This programme seeks to support the use of NHS resource to its maximum effectiveness and efficiency, and to support the development and trialling of new and innovative pathways and diagnostic tests for the earlier and faster diagnosis of cancer.

The Project Delivery Manager role is an exciting opportunity to shape cancer services within Humber and North Yorkshire, working collaboratively with provider, patient, and public stakeholders, addressing health inequalities, and driving workforce and digital innovation to design and deliver sustainable cancer services for the future.

Main duties of the job

The role of Project Delivery Manager is to provide robust project management to the Awareness and Early Diagnosis Programme and the post holder will be required to ensure specifically determined elements of the Programme such as implementing and embedding the use of the Faecal Immunochemical Test in suspected lower gastrointestinal cancer investigation, developing and delivering a liver cancer surveillance service, and working with ICBs to improve rates of early diagnosis through increasing screening uptake, timely presentation and improving primary care pathways are delivered according to the ambitions of the HNY Cancer Alliance operational delivery plan 24/25.

The main duties of the role are:

The project management and day to day running of one or more large scale transformation projects

The setting up and planning of the project(s) including project steering groups, project assurance function and any project teams

Ensuring that the project reporting adheres to the Cancer Alliance programme governance framework

Identify and manage the risks associated with each project

Managing the change brought about by the project effectively and efficiently

Maintaining knowledge of local, regional and national projects that are current and pending

Provide expert project management advice and support to other staff and teams within the Cancer Alliance and partner organisations

The role is full time, 37.5hrs a week, working a 9am-5pm shift pattern, there is no weekend working expectation or on call responsibility

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of successfully leading change management initiatives and specific change projects
  • Experience of producing robust business plans
  • Experience of building and sustaining effective and productive working relationships with a wide range of people at all levels and across a wide variety of agencies
  • Significant experience of public and patient involvement in service planning

Desirable

  • Management experience in different health/social care settings
  • Operational management experience
  • Experience of contract negotiation

Qualifications

Essential

  • Extensive knowledge of specialist areas and knowledge relevant to the role acquired through masters level qualification or equivalent experience
  • Should have an appreciation of the relationship between NHSE, provider and commissioning organisations and the broader health and care system
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

  • Project Management qualification and/or training
