Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our expanding Specialist CAMHS team.

This post will work with with children, young people and families with moderate to severe mental health difficulties.

The post holder will provide Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment interventions to C&YP with mental health/learning disability needs, within specific community settings. The post holder will also use evidence-based mental health interventions and client centred practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate one to one and group-based interventions within the setting.

The post holder will manage a defined caseload, using evidence based/client centred practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions under the supervision of a Band 7 Occupational Therapist.

The post holder will work as a member of a multidisciplinary team, providing advice and consultation to the multidisciplinary team from an Occupational Therapist perspective.

Applications welcome for newly qualified OTs who would be interested in a Band 5-6 development post.

We also welcome applicants from Band 5s who would like to develop into a B6 after 12 months.

Main duties of the job

To provide specialist occupational therapy assessment and interventions which are evidence based and have clear, measurable outcomes.

To be responsible for the assessment of occupational therapy needs. To formulate individualised management and treatment plans to address occupational needs.

To utilise a wide range of skills to deliver a specialised programme of care, using a range of tools based upon the Model of Human Occupation.

To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients and organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and time available and contributing effectively to pathways of care.

To deliver occupational therapy interventions in a variety of community environments.

To plan and implement individual and /or group interventions in collaboration with the service users to meet identified occupational needs.

To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment for clients with multiple needs in order to measure outcomes and ensure effective interventions.

To demonstrate a holistic level of understanding and knowledge of the effect of disability and recommend adaptation to the client's physical and social environment.

To assess and undertake risk assessments and identify risk management / relapse prevention plans in order to minimise these.

Our CAMHS Service is a multi-disciplinary team of psychologists, specialist nurses, systemic, child and art psychotherapists, occupational therapists, and psychiatrists, who are passionate in their aim to work with children, young people and their families in developing creative solutions to improve their mental health difficulties. The BCHFT CAMHS Service currently operates across 4 geographical areas (Sandwell, Wolverhampton, Dudley and Walsall) with contracts in each area.

Essential
