Job summary

We have a 12 Month Fixed Term opportunity available, to be part of a multi-disciplinary team for the Adult Eating Disorder Inpatient Unit at St George's Hospital, Stafford.Responsibilities include assessment, care and discharge planning for individuals with eating disorders and complex need. Coordinating and leading therapeutic group and rehabilitation programmes for the inpatient service alongside the multidisciplinary team. Providing leadership and clinical expertise in the adult eating disorder service, contributing to the delivery of a modern Occupational Therapy service.

Main duties of the job

Clinicalo To take responsibility for a clinical caseload in eating disorders. This will include caseload management and decisions on how to prioritise workload and will include clients with highly complex needs.o To carry out assessments including gathering complex information from clients, carers and other members of the multi-disciplinary team. Assessments will include initial assessments and rehabilitation assessments.o To contribute to the overall care plan using effective Occupational Therapy treatment programmes and negotiate and communicate these with the client, family, carers and other members of the treatment team.

Professionalo To actively implement, maintain and demonstrate an up-to-date knowledge of national guidelines, standards, legislation and professional developments in current methods in the treatment of client's conditions within the specialism.o To initiate and implement strategic plans in the eating disorders service.o To use an appropriate range of teaching media to assist with clinical support, supervision and teaching of other staff and clients, students and other disciplines where appropriate.

Leadership and Managemento To ensure the correct procedures are carried out regarding stock control and the sale of equipment or goods, and the handling of money, where relevant, using agreed protocols.o To demonstrate leadership skills by ensuring professional standards are maintained in all areas of clinical, organisational and project work.

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC Registered.

Experience

Essential

  • At least 4 years relevant experience as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Experience of managing and prioritising a clinical caseload.
  • Ability to work with clients with complex needs.
  • Evidence of delivering Occupational Therapy interventions through group and individual work in a variety of settings e.g. community, ward and patient's home.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Essential

  • Ability to form clear clinical treatment plans in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team and communicate these to service users, carers, family and team.
