Job summary

We are delighted to be seeking to appoint an experienced and highly motivated individual to lead our two year part time MSc Qualifying Level Family Therapy training course.

The post is based at the GMMH Psychological Therapies Training Centre (PTTC) which is renowned for providing high quality training to students in evidence based psychological therapies across the North West region and beyond. This innovative course provides training in the knowledge and key skills required to become a systemic psychotherapist. Trainees engage with range of theory, models and research with an emphasis upon adult learning principles, evidence based practice and creative approaches within systemic family therapy. This is an exciting opportunity to join our multi-disciplinary team and to work collaboratively within our established and highly regarded psychological therapies training programmes.

Main duties of the job

Prospective candidates will have substantial experience of delivering systemic training, systemic supervision and clinical practice. We are looking to recruit an experienced leader with knowledge and experience of multi-professional working, strategic liaison with managers, workforce leads and commissioners. Our course is strongly committed to addressing systemic racism and social justice within systemic family psychotherapy. We therefore wish to recruit a leader who is passionate about decolonising practice and promoting anti-racist practices and privileging issues of race, culture, social justice and equality in their practice, teaching and supervision, to challenge marginalising practices and subjugation in all its diverse forms.

Applicants will need a demonstrable interest in systemic research and knowledge and understanding of the training, governance and strategic contexts relating to Family and Systemic Practice. They will also have excellent team management, project management, communication and organisational skills and will be able to lead, develop, coordinate and participate within all aspects of the training.

Person Specification

Training/qualifications

Essential

  • Qualification in one of the main mental health, health or social care professions
  • Masters/Diploma level qualification (or its equivalent) in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy accredited with UKCP
  • Registration with UKCP as a Systemic Psychotherapist
  • Approved Systemic Supervisor, and/ or working towards this.

Desirable

  • Qualifications in training/ education.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Substantial experience of working as a Family Therapist in mental health settings, with experience of working with young people.
  • Substantial experience of delivering systemic training and supervision to a range of professionals.
  • Substantial experience of service leadership, project management and/or experience of managing and motivating a team
  • Experience managing and resolving conflict within teams.
  • Knowledge and experience of a range of contemporary research methodologies and a demonstrable interest in systemic research

Desirable

  • Substantial experience of working as a Family Therapist in CYP mental health settings.
