Job summary
The successful candidate will become a valued member of the gynaecology and minimal access team. They will have a vital role in the endometriosis service, attending endometriosis outpatient clinics; regular tertiary endometriosis theatre lists (laparoscopic and robotic); and the endometriosis joint MDT. The successful candidate will work closely with the endometriosis specialist nurse in coordinating the MDT, managing the waiting lists and working cooperatively with the multidisciplinary team for complex cases. The successful candidate will have ample opportunity to develop and learn in their clinical role focused on minimal access techniques and endometriosis. As part of their role the successful candidate will be expected to be involved in ongoing audit of complex minimal access cases and outcomes, including the BSGE endometriosis database and prospective data collection on robotic surgery and outcomes.
Main duties of the job
In addition to their clinical role the successful candidate will be expected to be actively involved in the organisation and coordination of the multiple minimal access training courses run within the department. They will perform this role in close collaboration with existing faculty. Prior experience in medical education and training provision is strongly desired as well as an open and enthusiastic personality to bring the best out of delegates as well as working with medical industry to provide support. Surgical videos (laparoscopic, robotic and open) play a large role in existing training. The successful candidate will play an active role in recording and editing new educational videos for specific procedures/describe techniques to continue the development of a video library. It is anticipated that much of this output may be publishable in peer reviewed journals or presentation at conferences and the successful candidate will be credited with authorship accordingly.

The post holder will have the following duties in addition to those described above:
Clinical
Attending weekly theatre lists in minimal access benign gynaecology.
Attending clinics in benign gynaecology.
Gaining the technical skills as listed above.
Participation on the on-call rota for obstetrics and gynaecology.
Management
Participation in audit and governance activities of the service.
Be responsible for recording relevant surgical activity, perform audits and reports.
Manage and engage with the BSGE endometriosis database and produce an annual surgical video for accreditation.
Coordinate and enact the recommendations of the joint endometriosis MDT together with the endometriosis specialist nurse.
Engage in the education of other junior doctors, nursing staff and other colleagues.
Academic
Submission of abstracts for presentation at relevant conferences throughout the year.
Participate in existing clinical research, actively recruit participants and be involved in developing future studies.
Coordinate and organise minimal access training courses together with existing faculty.
