As a Lead Telephone Counsellor with BPAS, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation and development of our counselling services.

Reporting to the Counselling Services Manager, you will provide expert advice, support, and leadership to our counselling team. Your responsibilities will include managing external supervision, providing high-quality counselling to clients pre- and post-abortion, addressing safeguarding concerns, and contributing to policy development.

This role is working full time, 36 hours per week on a 12 month fixed term contract covering maternity leave. You'll work remotely from home with occasional travel to our head office in Leamington Spa.

About You:

The successful candidate will hold a minimum Level 5 qualification in counselling and BACP registration. You should have experience in short-term, non-directive counselling and leading service development. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in IT are essential. You will be non-judgmental, friendly, and committed to a client-led service. Experience in recruiting and managing staff, along with knowledge of abortion care and safeguarding, will be advantageous.

Main duties of the job

  • To report to the counselling services manager on operational activity, day to day management and service delivery
  • To line manage the team of counsellors
  • To provide high quality counselling to clients both pre and post abortion
  • To be a point of escalation for clients with safeguarding concerns
  • Manage external supervision for self and other BACP accredited counsellors
  • To provide guidance to the counselling services team, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment
  • To ensure that client complaints are investigated and dealt with appropriately
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures and implementation
  • To develop and deliver training for counselling services and other BPAS staff

Salary: £36,938 to £44,625 per annum. Depending on skills and experience.

Contract: 12 months fixed term - covering maternity leave

Hours: 36 hours per week to be worked flexibly between:

Monday to Friday 08:00 to 18:00 | Saturday 08:00 to 16:00

A rota is given in advance.

Location: Home based with occasional travel to Head Office
