Job summary
This is a part-time Locum Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologist role for one year to cover upcoming maternity leave at the Guy's and St Thomas' Department for Clinical Neurophysiology.
Main duties of the job
The applicant would be expected to take the lead in the adult EEG and home video-telemetry outpatient service as well as participate in the urgent/inpatient EEG service. The post will be principally based at St Thomas' Hospital.
About us
The cross-site Clinical Neurophysiology Departments are part of the Adult and Paediatric Neurosciences. The departments at both the Guy's, St Thomas's and the Evelina Children's Hospital sites at present perform a wide range of neurophysiological investigations to examine the central and peripheral nervous system in patients with neurological and psychiatric disorders. These include routine and sleep EEG's both in the department and on the wards, including intensive care and multi-modality evoked potentials. There is a busy EMG service with consultant led EMG clinics and physiologist-led carpal tunnel and sensory neuropathy clinics. There are additional specialist services provided for paediatric video-telemetry and spinal cord monitoring.

Job responsibilities
This post will be located at the Clinical Neurophysiologist Department at St Thomas Hospital. It comprises of 6 PA with 5PAs allocated for direct clinical activities which include reporting of routine and sleep deprived EEGs, home video telemetries, urgent/inpatient EEGs, attending and arranging multidiscipliniary meetings for complex epilepsy cases and liaising with referring clinicians. The post-holder is expected to take an active role in the supervision of junior members of staff and contributing to the departmental educational activities
