Are you looking for a new challenge in an environment where no two days are the same?

Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMN) to work within the integrated health service at HMP Risley.

The prison is based in Warrington, Cheshire and is easily accessible by public transport, G prison is a Male Category C prison.

As an Mental Health Nurse, you will provide a holistic package of care to patients within the prison system, working with the team to develop and maintain delivery of high quality, individualised, evidence-based patient centred nursing care. You'll manage the assessment of health needs, planning, delivery and evaluation of care for the prison population, including clinical risk assessment.

You will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) and be looking to develop your current skills in a unique and ever-changing environment. You will have a passion for learning and development, as well as having the initiative to bring new ideas and opinions on how to improve the healthcare services.This is an exciting and dynamic role for the post holders who will be looking to expand their knowledge in health and justice services.

Main duties of the job

To triage the mental health needs of new arrivals/transfers and those currently in custody.

To provide advice on a range of health and harm reduction recovery issues to those with substance and/or mental health needs.

To safely promote the generic health needs of service users/patients with drug misuse issues and refer on to Health Care when required.

To complete mental health assessment

To provide a range of therapeutic interventions to service users with both primary care and secondary mental health care needs.

To provide a safe and accurate full comprehensive clinical assessment of service users/patients treatment needs in collaboration with the lead medical staff and other healthcare staff.

To safely and effectively carry out appropriate clinical and prison ACCT risk assessment regarding the service users/patients drug treatment and mental health issues thereby implementing appropriate interventions to manage the risks.

To make recommendations and identify the service users/ patient's treatment needs in developing their integrated care plan.

To safely and effectively manage the treatment plans of patients

Person Specification

Knowledge

Essential

  • Relevant professional qualification RMN or educated to degree level or equivalent demonstrable experience in a health or social care setting Postgraduate Certificate in Managing in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards one

Desirable

  • Evidence of working with offenders/ those involved with the criminal justice system. Experience of working with women with histories of complex trauma.

  • The post holder should: oDemonstrate an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in primary care oKnowledge of how adverse childhood experience affects people's lives. oKnowledge of basic elements of developing good therapeutic relationships oUnderstanding and ability to deliver formulation driven assessment & treatment at Step 2
