At Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTM UHB) we are recruiting an experienced, motivated and independently minded leader who is able to act on their own initiative within agreed guidelines, adopting values led "can do" leadership style within a climate of change to implement and manage the plans and performance of the Directorate under the direction of the Directorate Manager.

In addition to the day to day management of the Directorate, the post holder will competently deputise for the Directorate Manager, ensuring the service is seamlessly progressed and not compromised.

Reporting to the Directorate Manager, the post holder is expected to contribute with the senior management team to ensure operational plans and performance are closely managed, by proactively leading and providing solutions to resolve difficult operational issues, in accordance with agreed University Health Board objectives, targets, quality standards and resource constraints, promptly escalating issues which are unable to be resolved.

  • Ensure that services are patient centred using feedback from data such as PROMS/ PREMS and quality improvement and innovation is embedded.
  • Establish effective working relationships with staff at all levels.
  • In partnership with clinical colleagues, ensure that activity/quality targets are achieved with action plans to manage variances and improvements.
  • Ensure the achievement of objectives within the performance framework, budgets are spent effectively in accordance with procedure.
  • Co-ordinate formulation of operational plans, ensuring they contribute to the achievement of the Directorate IMTP and are supported by benchmarking and planning models.
  • Monitor risk and governance systems, a proactive approach to reduction of risk, clinical effectiveness and a safe environment in line with the governance strategy.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • Educated to Master's level or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience in administration/ management or relevant subject matter
  • Management qualification or demonstrable management skills including effective people management including performance management and development

  • First class interpersonal skills with ability to gain and sustain credibility with clinicians/managers
  • Skilled in influencing and persuading others

Experience

  • Significant experience within a NHS environment or complex organisation
