An rare opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the team on Bluebell ward in the role of ward manager.

Bluebell is a 25 bedded discharge to assess unit based at the meadows.

Discharge to Assess is an innovative service, aiming to facilitate timely discharges to the residents of Stockport and surrounding areas.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the unit facilitate timely discharges from a non-acute community bed and provide assessment and support planning to meet a person's needs in the community.

The unit Manager has a fundamental role in the delivery of high standards of nursing care, safe staffing and ensuring an environment that is conducive to wellbeing and contributing to effective budgetary management

Main duties of the job

We are looking for highly motivated, forward thinking and experienced clinicians with a specialist interest in frailty who will work alongside an integrated Multidisciplinary Team to improve flow and quality of the patient's journey as well as lead the unit.

The Multi professional team consists of highly skilled, registered Nursing staff, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, Pharmacy and Discharge Coordinators. Complementing our registered staff, we excel in providing a large team of Health Care Assistants, Admin, Discharge Trackers and Therapy Assistants.

We promote a positive ethos on personal and professional development, providing access to training and supervisions. You will be offered induction, supernumerary working and full access to mandatory training, furthermore CDP training is full supported and very much encouraged. Regular PDRs and reflective supervisions are provided, alongside peer support sessions in the form of multidisciplinary and profession specific team meetings.

Job responsibilities

In conjunction with the Matron, s/he will deliver the modernisation agenda within their clinical setting, including effective leadership, setting, monitoring and maintaining professional and care standards, work collaboratively, manage complaints as per Trust policy and lead the nursing contribution to the governance agenda at ward level.

  • S/he will be visible and accessible in the clinical area for patients, relatives and staff.
  • Lead by example and act as a positive role model for all staff, taking responsibility for own professional development.
  • lead the team and MDT through the StARS accreditation scheme.
  • Provide leadership that promotes patient focused care.
  • Maintain an environment conducive to education, teaching, audit and training for patients and staff.
  • Provide clinical leadership and line management of staff ensuring the delivery of the highest professional standards through staff development and individual performance appraisal/review.
  • Role model standards of care and expected behaviour through participation in direct patient care.
  • Maintain personal standards of conduct and behaviour, which are consistent with Trust and Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards and requirements.
  • Actively contribute to, and support agreed developments within the Business Group.
  • Identify equipment priorities to support the care of patients and staff of their physical environment, undertaking risk assessments to evidence short falls.
  • Ensure the efficient use of bank staff, monitoring quality and expenditure.

Essential

  • RGN
  • teaching qualification ( qualified live mentor)
  • Educated to Diploma level
  • Evidence level 3 studies

  • Qualified or working towards a degree in relevant speciality
