Job summary

This position is newly created to expand the ENT service at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in line with the needs of thedepartment. The successful candidate will be working as ENT Registrar, in a primarily elective setting. The successful candidate will join adynamic and expanding department.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

Have a responsibility to maintain high standards of care to patients in they encounter and to contribute to the proper functioning of the department.

Undertake administrative duties associated with the care of the patients they treat and the effective running of their clinics.

Be expected to participate fully in the medical audit arrangements.

Be expected to concern themselves with the professional development of other trainees and allied health professional colleagues.

Be expected to continue with all aspects of professional and adheres to professional requirements, participating in annual appraisal, job planning and reviews of performance and progression.

Job responsibilities

There are outpatient and surgical services at Homerton for both adult and paediatric ENT patients.

The job plan would include clinics in all these aspects, subject to agreement. The clinic templates include dedicated time for Emergency Department (ED) referrals and further urgent ENT patients are seen on an ad-hoc basis.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • MRCS or equivalent.

Desirable

  • DOHNS or FRCS ENT or equivalent

REGISTRATION

Essential

  • Registered on GMC register or with a license to practice.

Desirable

  • Experience in similar role.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

Essential

  • I.T. skills and computer literacy.

Desirable

  • NHS experience in last 3 years.

MANAGEMENT AND AUDIT

Essential

  • Understanding the principles of clinical governance and its implications.
  • Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Understanding and experience of audit.

Desirable

  • Evidence of service audit, design or change management.
  • Evidence of 2WW pathway understanding/work.
  • Publication of audits and quality improvement work.

RESEARCH/PUBLICATIONS

Essential

  • Knowledge of research methodology
  • Evidence of ongoing interest and achievement in research

Desirable

  • Training in research methodology.
  • Publications in peer review journals.
  • Presentations to learned societies.
