Job summary

We are excited to offer a dynamic and motivated dietitian the opportunity to operationally and strategically lead Adult Diabetes services in Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB). You would take responsibility for group education including prevention through the All Wales Programme (AWDPP), Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes (DAFNE and XPERT), and scope opportunities for service development and improvement to achieve evidence centered outcomes. You will work closely with diabetes specialist nursing, and strive to embed the multi disciplinary team in pathways, aligned too with Dietetics Inpatient and Outpatient services. You will engage with stakeholders including service users, GP Clusters and Public Health Wales.

Main duties of the job

PTHB is an innovative employer in the heart of rural Wales with all the benefits of space and tranquility, affordable housing, and good road links. The department operates from sites across Powys, and you would be supported by the Professional Head of Service who works closely with other Therapy Leads to maintain the strong AHP collaborative within PTHB, and enjoy professional support of colleagues. You will line manage a small team, support junior colleagues, and contribute to student training in collaboration with Cardiff and Glyndwr Universities.

Relevant professional background is desirable, but CPD and development is supported and candidates with less suitable experience but with excellent personal qualities and a positive attitude are welcomed. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and excellent communication, are important.

Working hours and base can be flexible by negotiation so long as the needs of the wider service are supported. However access to a car would be necessary to support travel across sites, and the ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential for this post.
