applications for both. The banding will be determined by the successful
applicant.
Band 5
Wheelchair Therapist (Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist) within the
Worcestershire Wheelchair Service. Fixed
term for 1 year.
This role will work closely alongside specialised Wheelchair
Therapists, Assistant Practitioner, Technicians, Rehabilitation Engineers, and
admin team.
You will carry out skilled,
holistic, evidence-based seating and mobility assessments of children and
adults in clinic and within their home environment and community setting,
including schools, day centres and residential care settings.

Main duties of the job
Working as part of a team and independently to provide
skilled mobility and postural assessments and prescription of wheelchairs for
adults and children with long-term health needs.
Complete holistic, seating and mobility assessments of
children and adults in clinic and in their home or community setting, including
schools, day centres and residential care.
Working within the Trust policies,
as an autonomous practitioner using evidence based/client centred principles to
assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
Following assessment and
identification of posture and mobility goals, implement appropriate action to
include prescription and provision of wheelchair and posture equipment.
Communicate patient information to other clinical teams,
including regional specialist centres to maximise safety and provide seamless
care between health and social services.
Work
collaboratively and in partnership with other agencies and services to achieve
identified goals for individual patients.

Qualifications

- Degree / Diploma in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy
- Health Professionals Council registration
- Evidence of relevant post graduate courses / Continual Professional Development maintained portfolio
- I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer
Experience
Essential
- A range of post registration experience including working in a health and social care setting
- Use of functional assessment and activity analysis
Desirable
- Equipment and adaptations experience as a student or band 5 therapist
- Some experience of working in a related health or social care environment
- Experience of working within a Wheelchair Service.
- Experience of working in a community setting.
- Experience of working with long term conditions and disabilities with children and/or older people.
Knowledge
Essential
- A good level of knowledge in a wide range of physical conditions
- A good level of knowledge relating to wheelchair and disability equipment
- Knowledge of safeguarding protocols and policies for children and adults.
