Job summary

An opportunity has arisen, within the Radiology Department, for a part time Clinical Support Worker to work alongside our Radiographers within the Radiology Department at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

These position will provide an exciting challenge for dynamic and empathetic team player, with excellent communication skills and enthusiasm, who enjoy working within a hospital environment.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work as an integral part of the Radiology team, working in the Medical X-ray Department, Maternity Ultrasound Department, Centenary Reception and Centenary Ultrasound Departments at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

The main responsibilities will include receiving our patients into the department on our reception desks, accurately entering patient and examination data in to the Radiology IT system, answering the telephone, responding to queries from patients, GPs and staff and general patient care.

Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but training can be given.

Post - 24 hours per week- These hours will be worked over four days, Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday in The Centenary X-ray, Ultrasound and Maternity Ultrasound departments on Reception and clinically in the Ultrasound rooms with the Sonographers.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Good General Education with GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or above.
  • Good Command of English Language

Personal Qualities

Essential

  • Available to work Nights/Weekends/Bank Holidays on a rota basis if required

Skills, ability and knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of computer systems
  • Good communication/interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work to Trust and Department Policies and Procedures

Desirable

  • Evidence of personal development (PDP)

Experience

Essential

  • Keyboard skills with speed and accuracy
  • Evidence of computer skills

Desirable

  • Use of Sectra RIS/PACS system
  • Previous experience of working in a Radiology department.
