Job summary

The Support worker role offers clinical and psychosocial skills and knowledge to be able to support clients through there recovery journey, be that in a clinical aspect or holistic. The purpose of this role is to offer high standards of care for our clients, whilst being part of service development and innovation, to continually improve our service offer.

The support worker is a hands on role that provides clinical and Psychosocial support whilst working closely with the nursing team. The success of all roles within the Prison teams contributes to the overall success of the clients journey. so, it is important to ensure we have a focus on our organisational objectives, as well as local service action plans. Delphi recognises that people, through their skills, knowledge, experience, values, and behaviours are integral to good Service performance and development. The Support workers role through their professional skills and expertise will support the Prison substance misuse team, to maximise performance, and in turn positively contribute to service development, and ultimately the clients experience

Main duties of the job

-Acting as a second signatory, enabling the nurse to dispense controlled drugs safely.

-Clinical and Psychosocial assessments to help create a person-cantered integrated care plan.

-Health promotions work for areas such as Sleep management, BBV, Wellbeing, Detox promotion and plan setting as well as new initiates and monthly topics.

-Delivery of KPIs in line with contract agreement to help evidence our service delivery.

-Delivery of awareness sessions linked to substance misuse.

-Joint multidisciplinary collaboration with all stakeholders such as Healthcare, offender management team, safer custody, Community CDTs and CPNs etc.

-Caseload of non-complex clients.

-Supporting colleagues and managers with new initiatives and service offers, and any reasonable requested Activity.

-Care planning of a clients recovery journey which is person centered and puts the client at the focus of all decision making.

-Clinical observations to be carried out in a safe manner, and understanding when readings will need escalating to a clinical nurse. This will be dependent on area of working withing Delphi.

-To facilitate groups within your competency, engage in the feedback pledge.

-Deliver harm reduction advice, 1:1, group, reacting to current trends, keeping up to date with evidence base.

Job responsibilities

As a Support Worker within Delphis Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service in HMP Manchester, you will work collaboratively with the integrated team to provide clinical and psychosocial support to individuals experiencing issues with Drugs and Alcohol in a secure setting.

This is a really rewarding opportunity where you will be able to provide support to individuals though their recovery journeys, enabling real change. You will be responsible for managing new client assessments, ensuring needs are considered and supported appropriately with robust plans in place to evidence the support, placing the individual at the centre of the decision making.

You will be part of an integrated psychosocial and clinical service and will work alongside colleagues to ensure fully integrated service provision. This includes acting as a second signer for the dispensing of medication to our service users, completing induction, assessments and providing harm reduction advice to individuals accessing our service.

In your role, you will take an innovative approach, including the delivery of holistic interventions such as creative therapy, acupuncture, and motivational events.

You will work closely with other services to ensure clients are able to achieve their recovery goals, positive outcomes and community re-integration, ensuring that individuals are supported and motivated throughout their recovery journey.

In undertaking this role, you will be expected to behave in a way that is consistent with and actively supports the organisations values.

You will be based at HMP Manchester. Your hours of work would be 35 hours per week and includes weekend and bank holiday working on a rota basis. The hours for this role are generally 7.30am-3.30pm however we are happy to discuss some flexibility with shift patterns.

Qualifications

Essential

  • -Experience of working in a team with appropriate supervision in a multidisciplinary service.
  • -Resilience and adaptability this, is a changeable and demanding environment.
  • -Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • -Good situational judgement
  • -Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • -To successfully gain HMP security vetting including CTC clearance
