Job summary

Lydden Surgery are seeking a Registered Treatment Room Nurse who is enthusiastic, approachable, motivated, compassionate, organised and is self-motivated and confident working unsupervised in our Treatment Room, carrying out holistic and autonomous evidenced-based nursing care to patients attending surgery for treatments. You should be able to demonstrate ongoing professional development.

The post holder will provide a high standard of care, utilising clinical skills in the assessment, planning and implementation of pro-active care to a community population with nursing needs.

The post holder will work in close collaboration with other professionals within the Nursing and wider teams here at Lydden

Main duties of the job

Participate in providing a high-quality nursing service, utilising clinical knowledge and skills to effectively manage patients with a nursing need who attend our Surgery Treatment Room

To undertake all duties in line with the training and instruction provided by the Management Team and General Practitioners

Duties to include, but not limited to:

Dressings and wound care

Childhood immunisations

Smears

Vaccinations including holiday immunisations

Phlebotomy

Injections eg B12/Zoladex

Routine contraceptive checks

Record ECGs

Spirometry (desirable)

Undertake holistic assessment of patients and develop, implement, and evaluate appropriate programmes of care for patients.

Participate in providing cost-effective, co-ordinated, and comprehensive clinical care based on the best current knowledge of treatment outcomes, with attention to safety, cost, invasiveness, simplicity, acceptability, adherence, and efficacy.

Ensure that the nursing care of patients is based on valid evidence and conducted in accordance with relevant guidelines, formularies and/or protocols.

Demonstrate safe clinical decision making.

About us

Lydden Surgery is an established practice which moved from River to our current purpose built premises in the picturesque village of Lydden in October 2011. We are a rural dispensing practice.

Our diverse practice team comprises: General Practitioners both Male and Female, Practice Nurses, two Heath Care Assistants, Dispensers, Medical Secretaries, Administrators and Receptionists.

As a team we offer the following services:

Routine bookable appointments with the clinician of your choice,

Same day bookable appointments (for urgent problems unfortunately we cannot offer a choice of clinician for these),

Home visits for housebound patients who cannot attend the practice,

A range of nursing clinics and services such as chronic disease management, blood tests, ECGs, dressings, blood pressure testing, warfarin clinics, hypertension clinics and NHS health checks.

The practice participates in the PCN patient participation group. We have dispensing services, online appointment booking and electronic transfer of prescriptions. Since June 2023 we have implemented Patient Triage all requests for clinical assistance are triaged by the GP led triage team.

Job Summary:

This is a permanent position working 16 hours per week likely over two days.

Main duties of the job

As a Treatment Room Nurse you will deliver safe, clinical decision-making and expert care for patients within the GP Surgery. You will be expected to maintain general nursing duties including undertaking wound care & delivering vaccinations with the option of undertaking cervical cytology screening, delivering childhood immunisations and providing contraception services and travel advice if/when you are qualified to do so.

A basic knowledge of computers is essential. Previous use of EMIS would be an advantage however full training will be given.

An enhanced DBS check will be required for this position
