Main duties of the job

Bury Talking Therapies are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed qualified PWP to join their highly successful and motivated team. For the role, you must have a Diploma/Certificate in Low Intensity Psychological interventions in order to provide high volume, low intensity CBT interventions for people with common mental health problems. Assessments and interventions may be delivered face to face, via the telephone, over a digital platform called Attend Anywhere or in groups. Good written and communication skills need to be of a high standard along with the ability to work flexibly. Our PWPs would be expected to work at least one full day in clinic and the remaining days can be worked from home or the office. We would ask that the successful candidate is able to commit to working one evening per week finishing no later than 7pm.

About us

Bury Talking Therapies is part of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) Programme and offers assessment and treatment for people referred via their GP or through a self referral pathway, with common mental health problems. The service works with adults aged 16 and above, from various cultural backgrounds. The service is made up of a multidisciplinary team, including Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, Counsellors, Cognitive Behavioural Therapists, Primary Care Mental Health Nurses, Psychologists and Admin staff

Bury Talking therapies offers quarterly CPD for our PWPs as well as providing weekly case management supervision, fortnightly clinical skills supervision and monthly process supervision. Our PWPs have a mixed caseload of service assessments, treatments, SilverCloud and groups.

Person Specification

Education and qualifications

Essential

  • Holds an IAPT approved PWP qualification

Desirable

  • Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a psychological therapy.
  • Psychology or other health related underdgraduate degree.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working as a psychological wellbeing practitioner
  • Experience of routine outcome monitoring
  • Experience of working in the local community

Desirable

  • Evidence of working in the local community

Knowledge

Essential

  • Demonstrated an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it presents in primary care
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of the issue surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health and employment
  • Knowledge of child protection issues, safeguarding and other relevant legislation

Desirable

  • Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems
  • Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Abilty to meet agreed / service targets
  • Ability to manage own caseload and time
  • Demonstrates high standards in verbal and written communication
  • Ability to write clear reports and letters
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Has received training (either formal or through experience) and carried out risk assessments within scope of practice
