Job summary

We are seeking a nurse of any discipline, social worker, or any Allied Health Professional registered with a professional body to join our team. We are a CAMHS service covering the city of Salford. We are a friendly and dynamic team who are part of a passionate and innovative CAMHS directorate that offers services across Manchester, Salford and Trafford. Your unique skills will provide assessments and interventions for children, young people and their families with mental health needs.

You will provide a range of high quality assessments and interventions appropriate to the child or young person's needs which will include; mental state assessment, risk assessment and management, family and social assessment, consultation, formulation and evidence based interventions.

The post holder will have a range of skills and knowledge base to deliver the clinical aspects of the role in a multi-disciplinary team setting and will be competent to do this work as an autonomous practitioner within professional practice guidelines.

The post holder is also expected to promote and develop partnerships and interface with other professionals and agencies that work within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health THRIVE Framework.

We offer a supportive induction period and you will receive regular clinical supervision and training.

Main duties of the job

To provide high quality mental health assessments and interventions to children, young people and their families, utilising your knowledge and experience in line with evidence based practice.

To participate in a duty rota including receipt and screening of referrals, obtaining further information if needed and responding promptly to emergency requests for assessments or contact, signposting, and advice.

To undertake assessment of children, young people including risk assessment, gathering appropriate information their family/ carers and other relevant agencies

To develop a formulation and plan for intervention with the child, young person and parents/carers. Communicate this to the referrer/other relevant professionals

To offer therapeutic, evidence-based interventions in line with NICE guidelines.

To implement, co-ordinate and regularly review further assessment and a range of therapeutic interventions, including risk management,

To routinely monitor effectiveness of clinical work by use of Routine Outcome Measures (ROM)

Ensure that the perspective of children, young people and families is incorporated into all aspects of assessment and treatment

The role involves travel to other locations within MFT and within the local community.

  • You must be registered/accredited with a professional body: E.g., NMC, SW England, UKCP, HCPC, BACP

Qualifications

Essential

  • You must have a recognised qualification. Recognised qualifications are: Registered Nursing: RMN/RSCN, RNMH Social Work: CQSW/DipSW Occupational Therapy: Other relevant accreditable qualification

Desirable

  • Qualifications in Psychological Therapies, e.g., CBT/SFT/IPT
  • Mentorship course ENB998 or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience of working effectively with people with mental health difficulties.
  • Experience of assessing and managing risk, including safeguarding
  • Experience of developing and providing evidence based assessments, formulations and care plans
  • Experience of liaison and working with a range of other relevant agencies and professionals
  • Experience of autonomously managing a caseload within a service
  • Experience of mentoring and supervision of others
  • Experience of working to clinical governance principles
  • Experience of following organisational policies and procedures

Desirable

  • Experience of working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health
  • Experience of providing interventions for children and young people with mental health problems and their families
  • Community mental health experience
