Job summary

We have a Fixed Term Appointment for a Cardiology Fellow. This post will give dedicated high-intensity training in cardiology and would be suitable for trainees who have at least 3-4 years of General Cardiology experience. This post may be undertaken by trainees who are already in an SpR/ST7 position (as part of an out of programme experience) or may also be suitable for trainees who have completed their CCT in Cardiology.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will spend 4-5 sessions per week undertaking cardiology outpatients, providing an expected 150-200 appointments per month. The remaining sessions will be discussed at interview but could include heart failure, cardiac imaging, inpatients, pacing and PCI. We will work with you where possible to meet training needs in addition to the outpatient sessions however, this will be dependant on experience and consultant availability for supervision.

Qualifications

Essential

  • MRCP (UK) or equivalent

Desirable

  • Higher degree MD/PhD

technical skills

Essential

  • Must understand and demonstrate participation in audit
  • All essential medical procedures eg, CV line insertion, Pleural taps etc
  • Must be able to demonstrate skills in time management

Desirable

  • BSE Accreditation Exposure to complex PCI as a 1st Operator.
  • Experience in research and publication in cardiology especially intervention

Knowledge

Essential

  • Demonstrable awareness of main developments in cardiology

Desirable

  • Certified provider in ALS

Other requirements specific to the role

Essential

  • Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practice
